About Lifepoint:

For over 20 years, Lifepoint has provided software and technical expertise hundreds of health care systems and laboratories around the U.S. We focus on designing workflows that aid in the adoption of computerized physician order entry and results delivery through practice EMR interfaces and web applications. To that end we have built thousands of interfaces with over 300 different EMR systems.  As it relates to COIVID, we have implemented software for the nation’s top healthcare systems and labs that gets employees back to work, provide patients instant access to their results, and keeps Labs / Antigen test manufactures compliant by delivering critical results to states and federal organizations.

Really like this idea! Do you have thoughts about how it would be funded and what the pricing model would look like?

Ross Cantor Nov 16, 2020

Thanks for the response! For clarity, we are sending Live data to each state for several organizations. Funded by Laboratories or Antigen manufacturers. Pricing model is subscription or transactional. Open to other funding options as well.

Alicia Beckett Nov 16, 2020

Hmmm I think it would be good to explore other models too. Labs have the requirement to report, but as more POC sites start rolling out that could be difficult. Subscription pricing is pretty interesting, but it would have to be reasonable enough that testing sites are willing to pay for it.

Have you considered other funding sources?

How will pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical laboratory testing aspects play into your approach, as well as CLIA/state laboratory regulations? see https://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=124...e42.5.493_11291

Also interested in how HHS COVID reporting requirements would work with the model (AOEs, UDI info, etc.) ? Assuming LOINC, SCT and other maps will be used behind the scenes?

Alicia Beckett Nov 16, 2020

Based on what I've seen with the POC devices, you need a supplementary application to collect the data outside of the test result. For example, an EMR, or an app like the Navica app. My assumption is that this reporting hub would be able to take in data from any source and route it to the correct department. So this is more about routing data than collecting all of the appropriate fields. Is that right?

Andrea Pitkus Nov 16, 2020

So there are several aspects identified. Trying to understand if there are preconditions met by other software. (In general) 1. How to collect AOEs, from ordering provider/patient/specimen collector 2. Integrate into app/LIS or other information source for patient to be married to results of IVD test device/system 3. All transmitted to public health (ELR) 4. All transmitted to HHS (may be met by 3).

Would Lifepoint approach support functionality for 1 and 2 or only pass along those data from upstream?

Ross Cantor Nov 16, 2020

Alicia is correct, Lifepoint Hub connects to LIS systems, devices, or apps to collect patient data and results. In addition to leveraging our existing connections to route results to the appropriate downstream system, we add missing content through additional data streams, use natural language processing to convert phrases into AOEs, and use translation tables to map LOINC/SNOMED codes. We transform data from its native format into HL7 ELR to meet all CARES act guidelines. Also can de-identify data to report to HHS or federal organizations.

In your example above, yes we could support the functionality for 1&2 and pass along those data elements. Please contact me to discuss further. rcantor@lifepoint.com

How does the system deal with data migration, data API and what are the security frameworks in place for the data infrastructure? Do you any pre-defined data templates and data tools to do integration/migration/etc.

Andrea Pitkus Nov 26, 2020

Which part of the process does your question apply? Looks like Lifepoint to Public Health (right side of diagram/video), follows ELR requirements to public health? http://www.hl7.org/implement/standards/produc...m?product_id=98
Where does Lifepoint support FHIR in the process?

Ross Cantor Nov 29, 2020

Hi Andrea, Lifepoint supports FHIR although most Laboratories, state health organizations and EHR/EMR systems are still utilizing HL7 v2.3 or 2.5.1 to exchange data.

My question is targeted for Asia Based system integration of common platform, so that developing countries data can be captured in similar platforms where we see tremendous need for such solution.

Ross Cantor Nov 29, 2020

Hi Keyur, Preferred method for data migration would be to establish an API to our Hub and push historical data. We have various security protocols in place to safeguard all data. Please reach me at rcantor@lifepoint.com for our api documentation.

Got it. Thanks.
