About those of us that already use, at home and/or electronic solutions

First, I am diabetic I use dialable injectable pen for dosing. It would be great for me and others like me if an injectable pen could be sent to people who already use this solution for meds. It could be sent by mail or picked up from pharmacy or doctors office. If all physicians and/or endocrinologists could let you know that it is available, it would take away congestion situations with people trying to get in front of the line for the Covid-19 flu shot(s).

I was also in a pandemic situation in Springfield IL. where they had an outbreak of hepatitis. We lined up in a tent in the State Fairgrounds for inoculations. They used an air gun that was loaded with tanks, a nurse prepped you and very quickly they inoculated thousands. Reminded me of a keg being connected to the gun. The tank can easily be kept cool in this fashion with a hose leading to the gun, dial up doses, disposable needles fast results.

Second, I have used the electronic monitoring systems they have out that connect to your phone and some can connect directly to your doctor office.

Checking blood is easy these days for a diabetic. Using monitors and indicators in the same way to monitor this epidemic seems like an easy progression. At least for a diabetic who has to monitor blood sugar on a constant basis. At home testing with virtual instructions via a phone application would cover a massive amount of people. The application could house the data personally for you to share with your doctor and anonymously for data. Many people would do this for peace of mind.

Third, to get to places where people can't get out, nursing homes, public housing, and homeless, a mobile unit that is large enough to set up inoculations for a large group calling by alphabetical order, "if your last name is between a-f please approach the mobile unit for inoculations."

Yes, I was wondering too if diabetic monitoring systems could be modified for COVID at home testing. We'd need a diabetic monitoring company to allow access to their app to experiment with. Any ideas on whom to reach out to?

Technologically Diabetic monitoring systems dont use same protocols as COVID testing - it is blood , and not Respiratory LOD. It is easier to provide secondary instrument than to modify current devices due to cost advantages and biological detection methodology differences.

Marianne Weinell, The Freestyle Freedom lite monitor has been the most reliable for me. Battery lasts the longest and is a no nonsense monitor. It could be a more logistical solution. There are adapters to the Android by Dario cost $30.00 comes with strips, monitor, and alcohol swabs. There is one by iHealth for iPhone and Android that plugs into an older iPhone through the headphone jack. Cost not mentioned. My doctor has touted these are not as reliable? Last thing you want is an inaccurate reading, but they are not hot sellers as far as I know. Most likely because medical community is not supporting. Could be a good way for them to turn business around by adapting to another need.

Keyur,
Unless one thinks out of the box. If a swab can take a sample from an individual to be tested, could then a swab be similarly designed to read a sample. For instance, rapid testing. Reusable or disposable swab plugs into monitor that plugs into phone.
Or another thought, a nasal monitor similar to the remote arm unit, like the Freestyle libre 14 day wearable monitor. It could be a small chip with a patch placed in nasal area you could monitor remotely.
