At-Anywhere-Testing Chatbot Data Collection

Chatbots that leverage Natural Language Processing such as IBM's Watson Assistant allow for a seamless user experience for patients in managing the testing and data entry requirements. Chatbots can provide adaptive and demographic-specific conversations that capture necessary data in a way that increases patient's confidence and decreases their confusion. This supports a human-centered approach to the experience of getting tested for COVID-19.

Along with diagnostic data from  devices, HL7/FIHR APIs allow data to interface with the chatbot's AI, patient records, as well as data sets available for analysis and visualization.

Symptomatic has worked on FHIR enabled chatbots to collect patient data before. It's not entirely clear that FHIR Questionnaire and QuestionnaireResponse are designed to be able to handle conversational/chat style flow logic. We were able to get some basic decision tree working, and even had a rudimentary multi-person chat bot up and running. But then runway ran out. If you're looking for solutions in this space, please feel free to reach out.
